Time to choose your favorite!
Ugh, we're a little late getting to this part of things...but here we go. The new design team has scoured the Flickr Group and chose the following three layouts as our finalists for the vote for May's favorites. You'll see a poll on the top sidebar where you can cast your vote. Feel free to blog or post about this on any chat groups or forums you belong to, we wanna spread the word and share the love! The poll will be up until the 31st of June and we'll announce the winner shortly afterward! Feel free to follow the links to each of the artists' Flickr galleries to see more of their dynamite work!

Meet Bethany!
What do you mean it's June already? Where the heck did May go? I'm sure it was just here...but now POOF! It's gone. Doncha love how when were were kids time seemed to move so slow (like molasses in January) and now it's more like, "What do you mean it's Christmas in a week? Didn't we just do Christmas?!" Anyone out there relate?? LOL
So we're in the midst of all kinds of change around here! We're working with a new team of designers and had to say goodbye to the last group, additionally we're welcoming our newest Monthly Guest Designer, Bethany Kartchner! We're thrilled to have her on board for June and can't wait to show you her wicked style!
And we know how much you love free stuff so be sure to check out her 3 fave layouts of all time (shown below) and upload the link to your scraplift in the comments section. Who knows, YOUR layout could win!

Q:Tell us a bit about you and your family.
A: I’m a domestic engineer: mother, wife, nurse, nutritionist, non-professional organizer, maid, interior decorator, fashion consultant, chef, landscaper, do-it-yourself-er, seamstress, taxi-driver, secretary, teacher, personal shopper, hair stylist, mixed-media artist, scrapper, did I miss anything? to a very busy family of 5 sweet children, 2 highly-shedding dogs and a great husband of 10 years. My oldest daughter will be 8 in July and my youngest son is 7 months old. (And no, I’m not done yet!)
Q: How long have you been scrapbooking and where did you get your start in this craft?
A: I’ve been scrapbooking for over 13 years! Long before it got popular. (I’m no fair-weather fan, people.) I got started after a summer internship in Belgium. I really wanted to preserve every single moment of that experience. I didn’t get really serious about it until a little over a year ago when I discovered the big world of designing and online forums. Wow, that changed my life forever.
Q:What inspires your creativity when you are scrapbooking?
A: I find inspiration in almost everything: children’s books, candy colors, fashion, technique books, other artists, challenge blogs, you name it, I like it!
Q: Describe your creative style
A: I’d say I’m whimsical freestyle. I bounce around a lot, but I love layouts with some doodling, some cuteness and bright happy colors.
Q: What are your three favorite products/techniques right now?
A: Hmmmm. This is tough.
Products:
1. Chipboard (I love the dimension and versatility),
2. Stamps (an old stand-by that never lets me down),
3. Colored Pencils (I love these for adding color to my doodles!) Can I add just one more thing? My charcoal pencil. I love the soft edge it adds.
Techniques:
1. Painting: I’m totally into paint right now. I used to be afraid of it, but I decided that I wanted to get better so I’ve been practicing…a lot.
2. Doodling: LOVE it! And YES, you can do it! I’m certainly no MC Escher!
3. Distressing. It is so fun to make something new and shiny look worn and tired. Hehehe
Q: What project(s) are you currently working on?
A: Gosh, I’ve always got many many projects in the works. Right now, I’m working on a few skirts for myself, an art journal page and a few layouts. No wonder I feel stretched sometimes!
Q: Describe your perfect day
A: As a stay-at-home mother, I’m living the life I always wanted so my perfect day would be a regular day just with 10 extra hours added on. Oh, and I’d have magic powers. I would wiggle my nose and my floors would be clean, all the windows would be fingerprint free, the fridge would be sanitary, and the toys would be organized and tidy so I’d have time to play more. On my magical-extra-extended-perfect-day, I would definitely scrap a lot and I’d eat dessert all day long and never gain a pound. Can the magic thing extend to more than just one day please?

Challenge 110
Say what? It's Friday already?! Wow. That sure happens fast, doesn't it? It's crazy how this day sneaks up on me every single week. Sheesh! Well, luckily we're all prepared and scrapped up for this week's challenge. We're using a sketch (and who doesn't love a good sketch!) and the team has really given us their top-notch work - like usual- and I for one had a great time pushing my personal comfort zone...and that would be to use more than one photo. Always feels a little weird!
So of course we wanna see what you can do with this one! If you haven't already joined our Flickr Group, please do so and upload your work there so we can consider your pages in our upcoming poll (which is a monthly occurrence that you don't want to miss!) Lucky winners receive RAKs that would make your mouth water! When you share your layouts with the pool, please remember to indicate which weekly challenge your page is for so it doesn't get missed.

Let's have a word, shall we?
I'm sure you've seen on the various blogs that people are getting on Ali's bandwagon and choosing their word for the year. The purpose of this word is to serve in place of resolutions - which, let's face it are impossible to stick to all year long- whereas these words serve as positive affirmations of our goals and hopes for the coming year...much more do-able, don't you think!
I've chosen my word for this year to be believe because I need reminders that all the seeds that I've planted for my life will sprout if I believe. I blogged about my reasons for choosing this word here.

Time to choose your favorite!
It's so hard to carve out creative time during the holidays but a few hardcore scrappers managed to pull it off! These ladies were able to drag themselves away from all the cooking and cleaning that goes hand-in-hand with Christmas and forced themselves to make a few pages for December's challenges! Phew, what a feat!! So our design team has chosen their favorites from the very few that were uploaded to our Flickr Group and these are the three finalists. You will see on the sidebar to the right a place for you to vote on your favorite layout. At the end of the two weeks that we're giving everyone to cast their vote, the winner will be announced and that talented scrapper will receive a fabulous RAK in the mail...so that is YOUR incentive to check out January's challenges here and here to get some inspiration for your own layouts to upload to the Flickr Group by the end of January for your chance to win FREE SCRAP STUFF!!!

Challenge 99
Wow, this is so exciting! Our 100th challenge is just around the corner...I can hardly believe it! Our challenge this week is pretty great...I love how a simple challenge can lead to such diverse results. Each artist's pages totally reflect who they are which I think is my favorite part of doing these challenges, especially as I get to know each artist a little better over time. Of course, anybody who knows me is not going to be surprised that my page wound up as a single photo layout when I could have easily chosen to do multiples...I take comfort in a little predictability, don't you?
Please share your version of this week's sketch with us on the Flickr Group where the design team and I will be looking at all the submissions and selecting three finalists to vote on at the end of the month. Challenge 98
Dude, it's almost the 100th challenge and in case you haven't noticed... more than thirty thousand of you amazing people have visited our li'l blog in the last not-quite-three years!!! Holy CRAP! That's a lot of people! So that might explain how on earth the number of voters on the poll on the sidebar has managed to climb so much higher than the last month's vote! Right on.
This week's sketch makes me happy. It forced me to go beyond my one-photo-per-page limitation and I truly love the way my page turned out. Maybe I shouldn't edit my photos so heavily that I only end up with one (or maybe two) great shots for each layout... something to ponder, for sure!
If you want to create a page using this weeks sketch, please be sure to share it with us in our Flickr Group...if you do, your page will be one of the layouts considered as one of the three finalists posted in the poll found on the sidebar. Challenge 95
It has been a week bursting with busy-ness & change. I lucked out and was able to spend a whole day in the studio before Ray started his new job to get a stockpile of layouts ready for the coming weeks so I feel ultra organized! YAY!
Our Design Team has done an amazing job with this week's sketch (as they always do!) and we want to see what you make with this one. You can share your work with us in our Flickr Group. If you haven't joined yet, please do! Our 50th member won an incredible prize pack and there's an even better one waiting for the 100th member to join so don't wait, join the flickr group! When uploading your layouts to the Flickr Group, please make sure you include the challenge number so that we know to include your page in the voting that happens at the end of each month....you never know, your page could be the winner of this month's giveaway!
Also, we're still accepting applications for Design Team hopefuls! All applications need to be received by the end of today so check out this post to learn what you can do to be a part of our creative Design Team! A big shout out to all the talented designers who've sent their applications already! Some incredible work is being shared with us and it's very exciting to tell you that so many of the applications are international (and I don't mean Canada/USA kind of international!)...Countries like England, Scotland, New Zealand, Singapore and the Netherlands! WOW!!
Oh, and one more thing before I stop talking...don't forget to register for the Great Pumpkin Search for your chance to win prizes out the wazoo!!! Registration is free and all you have to do to win stuff is find all the pumpkins that are hidden on each participating website. Mine's super easy to find! Challenge 93

Meet Shelley!
It's that time again...time to introduce our newest Guest Designer, Shelley May! I found Shelley on Sis TV where her "Welcome Summer" page (see below) caught my eye. I read the journaling and literally laughed out loud. Clearly her little girl is the main subject in many of Shelley's pages but that's okay too because that Miss Kennedy is just a DOLL!!So take a look at her interview and get to know a little bit about Shelley and what makes her tick. Also, there are 3 of Shelley's all-time favorite pages at the end of this post for you to take inspiration from and to scrap your own version. A: I am married to one heck of a good man – Ron. We’ve been hitched now for 6 years… or is it 7? (the 7 year itch skews your memory!) We have a fabulous daughter – Kennedy – who is three. Honestly – cliché as it may sound – I never really knew life with her would be so wonderful. I also have a 9 year old fur baby, Bailey. I work from home full time and consider myself quite fortunate to be able to do so. I always hate this question – as I don’t like to brag or talk about myself… so let’s leave it at this so you can get to know me: I’m VERY sarcastic, funny, passionate about matters of the heart, I’m a dreamer, I truly feel I’m a good person with a warm heart. I love good music, a hot cuppa joe, and lots of paper and glue around me at all times.
Q: How long have you been scrapbooking and where did you get your start in this craft?
A: In doing some closet purging this summer – I learned – I’ve been scrapbooking since high school – maybe even before. We just didn’t call it that back then! I was also a stamper in elementary school. However – I really got bitten by the paper bug in 2005 – when my daughter was born. I had to do my own invites for my baby shower – and wanted something different. I walked into a local scrapbook store - $250 later that afternoon – and the rest is history! I’ve always been creative in one way or another, either with my hands sewing, embroidery, stamping or performing on the stage in plays and sketch comedy! This papercrafting thing - it’s become a passion and one day – would like to make a career out of it!
Q:What inspires your creativity when you are scrapbooking?
A: This is a toughie – I get inspiration from everything. Ads in magazines, commercials, idea books, clothing, MUSIC – but mostly I am inspired by new products. That’s all it takes most of the time. Oh – and a BIG cup of coffee and the ipod blaring!
Q:Describe your creative style
A: when you see it maybe you can explain it to me? The word eclectic comes to mind – but also clean, girlie, and often simple.
Q:What are your three favorite products/techniques right now?
A: I am in love with October Afternoon right now. I think in my own little world it was created just for me. I have a strong affection for Thickers and all things Making Memories. I’m not a big “technique” person – but do love to distress and am loosening up a bit and playing more with paint and “found” items.
Q:What project(s) are you currently working on?
A: I picked up these huge wooden butterflies with metal antennae from Joann’s about a year ago. They were regular price 19.99 – I think I paid 1.97 for them? I bought three. No intentions for them – I just did – know one day I’d alter them. I’ve got one in the works… maybe you’ll get to see it soon! :O) I’m also working on some Halloween banners for the house and our cottage we rented for a harvest camping trip in October!
Q:Describe your perfect day
A: MY perfect day would be sleeping in and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Crisp clean air and a beautiful ocean view. Coffee and fresh scones and fruit for breakfast – then a day filled with junking and antiquing. This is something I’ve dreamed of doing for ages. Lunch at a little sidewalk café, rounding out the afternoon with a mani/pedi and a massage. More shopping – and a nice dinner on the deck overlooking the ocean… and the rest of the night spent creating with all the random trinkets I found along the way!
