Well, it' s Sunday morning - not a typical blogging day for me- but I know many of you are wondering who the winner is from yesterday's Birthday Week Giveaway! Well, there were seven comments to choose from and I asked my husband to pick a number between one and seven (he hadn't read any of them yet so he didn't know which comment belonged to which person) and he chose number SIX! Allison, you were the lucky commenter and your prize bundle is pictured below. I need you to email me your mailing address (again) because I have no idea where I put it! lol

So you didn't win and you maybe want another shot at some free Birthday Week stuff...Well, guess what. I'm going to do another draw tomorrow morning. Comment on today's post and we'll see what you get! I want to see more names in the list this time! C'mon, you know you wanna!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Challenge 63

Yahoo! This is my favorite week of the ENTIRE year. I even like this week better that the week leading up to Christmas. I like to think I'm a pretty balanced person with only mildly selfish tendencies and an ability to put others before myself when necessary. However, Birthday Week is all about me, what I like and what I wanna do!! So that means a little pedicure lovin' at the spa, a super delish dinner out on Birthday Day, my really great birthday earrings that I ordered from Etsy, a little bit of new yarn yumminess and maybe a book for good measure!

My pal, Karen & I often help each other celebrate our Birthday Weeks by giving each other little daily gifts. It's going to be a little different this year because former traditions had us making daily deliveries which is not going to be possible this year so instead, we've been on the hunt for a bunch of super cool things to put into one big box. The idea is that every day leading up to birthday week you still get a gift, just reach in and pull one out!!

Ray's been recruited into the Birthday week celebration style too...remember the emergency outfit from last week? That was the 'meat' of the Birthday week stuff, my new earrings that I ordered to replace a lost pair that was similar to these ones (below) and of course, our new movie. A pretty fine lead-up to Birthday week if you ask me!

Okay...so enough about that! It's time to look at our sketch. We have been having so much fun with our kit this month. I love that the colors are SO not 'springy' and just so easy to scrap with! I've been really enjoying getting caught up on some photos from Autumn that have gotten a little forgotten. I especially liked dusting off a few more of my sewing supplies and rockin' out a bit of embroidery on my page.

The sketch for this week is pictured below. If you want a shot at winning one of our Couture Collections, create your own page from the sketch using your own supplies (or if you have a Couture Collection, feel free to use that!) and upload a photo of your page to our Flickr Group. At the end of the month, the design team and I will pick our favorite page and the lucky winner will be announced right here! As a matter of fact, we've got the winner of February's submissions announced below...scroll down to see who won this month.

Wow, here it is, into the single digits! I LOVE birthday week! I guess it's not officially birthday week yet, but the magic is starting. I had to do a bit of emergency trade-show-outfit shopping the other day when I had a tragic realization that my hibernation insulation (let's call it that instead of fat, it sounds 'nicer') had impeded my ability to wear my favorite trousers for a wedding tradeshow this coming weekend so a-shopping I must go! Ray bought my super cute outfit as part of birthday week! Yay for me :)

Yesterday Ray came home from a trip to town with another Birthday week tidbit...on our first date, we visited a fantastic little second-run theatre in downtown Victoria BC, Canada (the Roxy Cine-gog) to see "How to lose a guy in ten days" with Kate Hudson & Matthew McConaughey. If you've seen this movie, you know how cute it is and if you've been to the Roxy, you know how awesome those two back rows are with the double-seaters! (side note: we got married in that theater- first couple ever to do so) and put all that together with that first-date magic, you can imagine the sentimental value this film has for us. Nice job, Ray, great Birthday week gift.

I have other fantastic goodies coming and I'll share them all with you as I get 'em. Happy Tuesday!

Challenge 62

I am totally addicted to Kal Barteski! If you still don't know who this is, you've GOT to go and read this girl's blog! She's a faithful (almost) daily blogger who's written voice is as hilarious as I can only imagine her spoken voice to be. She's wickedly funny, an unbelievable artist, a stick-to-yer-guns kinda mama (which we LOVE) and is quite clearly a very confident woman (we REALLY love that!). Her artwork can be found in a beautifully composed book (which you can order and get her to autograph too!) HERE. She's sharing her artwork with us again this week in the form of this thought-provoking piece seen above. The gals this week have all interpreted the inspiration from Kal's work in such different ways and they are all AMAZING pages!!

If you like this week's challenge and want to try your hand at pulling a rockstar page using Kal's artwork for inspo, remember to upload you page to our Flickr Group. We will vote on a favorite page once a month from all the contributed works. You do not have to create pages using your Couture Collection (but we like it when you do!) and you can submit your artwork as many times as you like, just be sure to include the week number that your page is created for.
